Yikes! Done with College = Real World

So now I’m officially done with college! And the real world sets in…I seriously need a job. I have been prospecting though, don’t worry. There are a bunch of places I would like to work. I have the motivation to work hard. I just don’t have the job yet. I’ll get there. I just have to look for a while. I thought this day would never come. I’m just so thrilled to be completely done. It’s so weird. I have 4 resume tapes made. J I’m happy about that. I have one for promotions, two disc jockey ones, and a news one. It’s a good thing. I’ll keep you updated with any new installments!

Sooooooo close!

So I'm almost out of here, nothing too exciting yet. I did my last live radio shift. That was a little bit weird. Couldn't even venture a guess as to how many hours I've been behind the mic in the master control room. Right now I'm still job prospecting. Sending out a few resumes, but I need to find more places to apply to right now. I really need a summer job right now. I just can't wait to be done. I've waited for this for so long!! I have no idea what's going to happen, but I'm just gonna go with it for a little while.

P.S. I got to interview the Clarks in person before the show here at Westminster!!!!

capstone presentation

Well, I thought I did ok on it. I suppose where I went in the lineup of presentations wasn't optimal. Even though the presentations were really nice, it was still a long time.

Well now there might be this job in NC that I want..some kind of media consultant. I'm gonna check it out. That way I might be able to make some money afterall. Maybe I'll work at a radio station on the side or something. Who knows.

All I know is that I need to graduate. Jetzt.

Me again!

Soooo I have FINALLY started sending out tapes and resumes. :) What a relief. I'm not gonna say where yet because it's a secret, but I'll let you all know if I get the job. :) Let's just hope for now. Plus I thought of a killer theme for my broadcast presentation. I'm gonna use a road sign theme. Don't worry everyone. I won't be traveling down memory lane...think of it if you will as more of a construction zone theme. Anyway --I now have a game plan, and a new killer resume tape.

Ok, so on to much more fun things....The Clarks are coming to Westminster on May 5th, the day before Volleyrock and Titan Radio is trying to do a promotion with them!! And today was the best because we found out that Christy Sitter may be able to get Hanson to perform at Volleyrock. She does PR for them. So if I can get SGA to approve it, we may have one exciting weekend ahead here at ye ole DubC.

Stay tuned.

Another week!

Well…I have finallly figured out how I am gonna do my broadcast final presentation. I was having trouble picking a central theme for it, but then I realized that I do a lot so I should include everything I do. I go fifth in a line of 10 so it shouldn’t be all that bad. Also, I can’t remember if I wrote this already, but I am doing some hard core job searching starting May 5th. That is when everything is done. If anyone out there knows someone who can get me a job in radio, send ‘em my way! I hope to put another djing tape together really soon.

Almost graduation time!!!

Future Capstoners

SO the letter to the kids that will open it up about 5 years from now. I guess here is my 2 cents in the bunch. Every day I find out more and more I don’t know…but really I think that’s a good sign. Sometimes I think people have to stop and think, the fact that they are aware of all they don’t know means something. Don’t do what people want you to do. Do what you want to do, when you want to do it. There is nothing worse than a puppet person that does everything perfectly and is miserable. I was that person a long time ago, and I’ll tell ya. It’s not very fun. It doesn’t get you anything except a ridiculously high gpa and no friends. In the real world, that’s not gonna get you anywhere fast. Balance your time between work and fun. People are the most important part of your life. The package you have due constantly is also important, but don’t step on people to get it done. I’m not gonna say these four years flew because they didn’t. I got to travel the world, be on the radio & television., and my life might seem a bit more glamourous than the average bio major. At the same time though, if I hadn’t worked my butt off, none of that would ever have happened. Work hard, play hard. That’s my motto. Viel Glueck!

Diamonds are made under pressure.

Spring Break!

This week. Well, I learned that I’m just gonna graduate normal like everyone else. I was thinking about seeing if I could “still be enrolled” in order to do an internship, but it seems that it wouldn’t be a good idea. I started another promotion this week too…Fiesta Fridays!!!!!! Listen tomorrow for your first chance to win!! El Canelo is giving away stuff every Friday until the end of the semester. It’s pretty sweet. This week was a little rough “on-air” wise because I’m all nasal from this awful cold. I did the usual though…news, shows, and I covered a radio shift…I don’t mind that though.

And today….we had a guest speaker. It was nice to hear from someone still in the business. I think he kinda convinced me to just go into the business rather than wait around for my dream job somewhere. I guess that didn’t work out for a reason – and who knows – it still could.

Alright. Time for bed so I can do it all over again. I’m starting to notice a pattern.
